What levels do our music tutors teach?

Fleet Tutors provides high quality music tutors covering grades 1 to 8 from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). Our tutors are also able to support students with their theory preparation for all levels from KS1 to University and postgraduate. We have experienced music tutors who can prepare students for common entrance exams (11/13+) for independent private schools, scholarship exams and grammar schools 11+.

Do our tutors offer more specific help?

Our music tutors offer expert advice in anything from learning scales to music composition. Our music tutors develop a tailored programme of tuition for each student which starts by completing an Individual Tuition Plan (ITP) with the student during the first tutoring session in order to determine what specific areas need to be covered and to define the tuition goals and objectives.

What experience do our music tutors have?

All of Fleet Tutors’ private tutors are required to have relevant teaching or tutoring experience.  Many of our tutors are actually qualified teachers; but qualified or not all of our Music tutors have up to date knowledge of the curriculum and various exam boards including ABRSM, AQA, EDEXCEL and OCR.

What qualifications do our tutors have?

All of our tutors are required to hold at least a degree in the subject they tutor at a 2.1 or above or a teaching qualification recognised by the General Teaching Council. In the case of music we require any tutors offering instrumental tuition to hold a Grade 8 from the ABRSM. For theory tuition they are required to hold, as a minimum, a music degree graded at 2.1 or above.

How do you know your children will be safe with our private tutors?

All of our private tutors hold Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Disclosures (CRBs), or Enhanced Disclosure Scotland’s which we check very closely. The CRB are an executive agency of the Home Office which vets applications for people who want to work with children and vulnerable people. We interview and obtain 2 references for every private tutor; one work reference and one character reference. Many of the work referees have worked with the tutor in a teaching environment so they can provide us with a valuable insight in to the way the tutor works with children. The character referee can also help us determine whether a tutor is suitable to work with children due to their characteristics.

All of our tutors are screened very closely by our Tutor Support team.
